TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. -- The Chrysler group has named Magna International Inc. as the supplier of cockpits for an unnamed crossover vehicle that will debut in late 2008.
Johnson Controls Inc. will supply the vehicles seats, Chryslers purchasing chief revealed Wednesday.
Peter Rosenfeld, executive vice president of Procurement & Supply, declined to give additional details about the new vehicle or its suppliers.
He identified Magna and Johnson Controls as examples of the treatment that can be expected from a new Chrysler group program to reward high-achieving suppliers.
The program will designate top performers in quality, technology and cost as Highly Integrated Partnership Organizations and place them in what Rosenfeld calls a reward zone.
Once in the reward zone, a supplier can be pre-sourced for vehicle programs based on their willingness to meet target prices.
