Like any premium car maker, Ferrari tries everything possible to protect against the misuse of its company name and logo.
But its June decision to make its fan clubs -- 400 in Italy alone -- drop the Ferrari name created some disconcert.
The Ferrari Fun Clubs are now simply Fun Clubs, permitted to use only the company logo, the famous black Prancing Horse within a yellow background.
Ferrari took the measure after some fun clubs, despite several requests to stop, kept organizing events using the company name.
Only Ferrari owners' clubs can continue to use the name, but to join this club, you have to own a Ferrari. The cheapest entry ticket is the E145,000 F430 coupe.
