FRANKFURT -- Toyota Motor Corp. has recalled about 114,000 Avensis and Corolla models in Europe to check potential brake problems, the world's second-biggest carmaker said on Friday.
"In rare cases, the brake performance may decrease due to a shortage of vacuum to the brake booster," a spokeswoman for Toyota in Europe said.
She said there had been no accidents related to the problem and that parts would be replaced at no cost to customers.
Poland's consumer protection office said models affected included some Avensis and Corolla cars made in Britain between 2003 and 2005 and Corollas made in Turkey in 2004 and 2005.
It also cited a potential problem with ball joints in Land Cruisers produced in Japan from May 2001 to September 2002.
