A total of 32 plants worked some overtime this year compared with 42 in 2004.
Downtime is up 0.8 percent for the first six months of 2005 from the same period last year. A total of 36 plants were down because of slow sales this year compared with 20 in 2004.
The Chrysler group's Toledo, Ohio, South plant (Jeep Wrangler, Wrangler Unlimited) has worked the most overtime this year -- 26 weeks.
General Motors' Lansing Craft Centre in Lansing, Mich. (Chevrolet SSR), has had the most downtime this year -- 17 weeks.
