To the Editor:
I applaud your May 23 editorial, "In rough times, CEOs should take a financial hit," concerning the compensation that automotive CEOs received in 2004.
I believe those amounts are outrageous and should be reduced. Can you imagine having a salary of $12 million a year? Just imagine receiving
$1 million a month for the amount of work that is done by an automotive CEO.
I also believe that your next editorial should include members of the boards of directors of the automotive corporations. I think they are way overpaid for the small amount of time they spend as board members.
They should be ashamed of themselves for paying themselves that much when their companies are not doing well. It's a slap in the face to the shareholders and the line workers.
