To the Editor:
Over the years, Automotive News has published many articles and opinions critical of auto dealers, salespeople, service departments, etc. I am enclosing an item, via the National Automobile Dealers Association, about a survey by Automotive Retailing Today. Perhaps your staff could investigate and do a real positive article on dealers for a change.
Your reporter conveniently forgot to idolize Carlos Ghosn in "Nissan weeding out low-volume dealers." Why not a quote from Ghosn? Why not mention that that policy probably came right from him, the supposed guru of the automotive business?
I see American Honda's sales were down 14.7 percent in May, and Mitsubishi's sales were down 30.5 percent. Don't those warrant headline stories instead of bashing Ford and General Motors all the time? Your newspaper is phony. You are anti-U.S., pro-feminist, pro-Japanese, pro-Korean, pro-European.
Get your heads out of the clouds. Get back here on planet Earth. Go to work for a dealership, desking deals for six months and be service writers for six months. Then come back and pontificate.
