DETROIT -- U.S. light-vehicle sales will rise in June, an industry analyst predicts.
David Healy of Burnham Investment Research says General Motors' employee discount plan will make a huge difference in June sales - but the inventory clearance may be an unfair estimate of GM's position.
Healy predicts GM's sales will increase 27 percent in June, compared with year-ago levels. He says Ford Motor Co. sales will rise 2 percent and Chrysler group sales will decrease 4 percent.
Wrote Healy: "GM, out of dire necessity, has started its end-of-model-year inventory cleanup a month early."
