WASHINGTON -- Federal safety officials are investigating middle-row seat belts in 2004-05 Toyota Sienna minivans.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and Toyota Motor North America Inc. have collected 50 complaints about belts that jam in guide slots. Toyota also reported more than 3,000 possibly related warranty claims.
NHTSA says a jammed belt would not provide adequate protection in a crash. As many as 300,000 vehicles may be affected.
