August Horch: A famous name
In your May 23 issue, reader Jeff Grimm notes that a car could be named the Zorch, and it would not matter.
Actually, about a century ago, August Horch created the car that bore his name. His company eventually became part of Auto Union, now owned by Volkswagen and known as Audi.
August Horch was recently inducted into the European Automotive Hall of Fame for his automotive accomplishments. There also is a Horch museum in Zwickau, Germany. Photographs of Horch automobiles can be found at www.autogallery.org.ru/horch.htm.
Apparently, the name does, indeed, not matter.
