Consequently, he also must step down as chairman of the American International Automobile Dealers Association, AIADA President Marianne McInerney confirmed on Friday, June 10.
Evans, 44, who was the first executive of a large, publicly traded dealership group to chair a national dealer association, wants to go back into business for himself, McInerney said.
Chairman-elect Don Hicks, owner of Shortline Automotive Inc. of Aurora, Colo., will move up to the chairmanship early and serve through 2006, McInerney added.
