TORONTO -- Steel supplier Dofasco Inc. will try to secure a more lucrative contract with Toyota Motor Corp. after a report said that the automaker will build an assembly plant in Canada, Dofasco told Reuters last week.
Dofasco of Hamilton, Ontario, is Canada's second biggest steel maker. About 45 percent of the company's product goes to the automotive industry.
Dofasco says it could build a galvanizing line for about $160 million or reconfigure others to ensure the supply.
Galvanizing lines make steel rust-resistant for car bodies.
