To the Editor:
The March 14 SalesTales column said, "Fleet sales keep the assembly lines humming, but they don't put much profit in the pockets of manufacturers or dealers."
That may not be entirely true. From the manufacturer's point of view, many fleet sales are supported by the same level of incentives as retail sales. Maybe that's your point - they don't make a profit on either type of sale.
I have been told by several of our fleet dealers that the fleet departments are king in their stores during these days of reduced retail activity.
