DETROIT -- General Motors introduced another major incentive campaign Wednesday. This time every consumer can get the same savings every GM employee gets on a new vehicle purchase.
GM said it is offering its employee discount to every buyer who takes delivery of a new 2005 GM car or truck from June 1 through July 5.
GM will display employee prices on most vehicles it sells -- the Chevrolet Corvette and GMC medium-duty trucks are excluded.
Those discounts usually amount to about 2 percent or 3 percent below invoice prices, dealers say.
Prices take into account available rebates but exclude taxes, title and dealership fees. Consumers also can confirm the price of a vehicle by entering the vehicle ID number on www.gmbuypower.com.
"The 'GM Employee Discount for Everyone' provides very simple, very compelling prices for consumers and clarity regarding the final purchase price," said Brent Dewar, GM North America vice president of marketing and advertising. "We believe it will cut through the clutter of all the other offers currently in the market. This is what we mean when we say we want to offer a transparent total value proposition to our consumers."
The program will be supported by significant broadcast, print and online media featuring GM employees. Advertising will begin Friday.
