DETROIT -- Lexus Division has signed on as the presenting sponsor of rocker Paul McCartney's 37-concert North American autumn tour.
The deal with the luxury brand of Toyota Motor Corp. is the first time the 62-year-old former Beatle has taken a commercial sponsor. The deal includes other marketing options that run through March.
McCartney's interest in environmental causes and the brand's focus on a hybrid SUV, the RX 400h, made the deal mutually attractive, Lexus said in a statement.
"I'm very pleased to partner with Lexus because I think there is a natural fit," McCartney said in a statement.
The tour begins Sept. 16 in Miami.
