TOKYO – Toyota is tops in vehicle sales revenue, if not in total sales.
In the January-March quarter, Toyotas automotive revenues of $40.31 billion (E31.8 billion) led General Motors $37.30 billion.
But GMs overall revenues barely edged out Toyotas on GMs much larger lending and other revenues. GMs total revenues were $45.77 billion, down 4.3 percent. Toyotas were $45.46 billion, up 4.2 percent.
In unit sales, GM was still the world champ. Its January-March car and truck sales came to 2,108,000, down 0.3 percent. Toyota totaled 2,002,000, up 8.3 percent.
