DETROIT -- Lori Queen, General Motors' vehicle line executive for small cars, says delivery of the first 1,000 Pontiac Solstice roadsters won't begin until late summer.
Some might not arrive until October.
Queen, who is responsible for the Solstice program, says GM is building pre-production models at its Wilmington, Del., plant.
"We've said that production begins this summer - and it will. The commitment is to deliver all 'First 1,000' cars by the end of October," Queen wrote last week on GM's FastLane Internet site.
Pontiac dealerships took orders for the first 1,000 Solstices in an early-order program after a promotion on the TV show "The Apprentice."
