HAWKESVILLE, Ky. -- Alcoa Automotive Center will close its automotive casting plant here by year end. The plant, which has 158 workers, has been operating at less than 20 percent capacity.
Alcoa says it will cost $45 million to $50 million, before taxes, to close the plant. Much of that will be in asset-impairment charges, the company says.
Alcoa Automotive of Farmington Hills, Mich., supplies components such as knuckles, control arms, cradles and subframes.
