TOKYO - Bridgestone Corp. has selected Huizhou as the site of its fourth tire plant in China. The plant is expected to cost $300 million.
The plant is scheduled to begin production by January 2007 and will turn out 5,000 tires a day when it reaches full capacity in the first half of 2009, Bridgestone says. Employment will be about 1,000 at full capacity, the company says.
The plant will operate as Bridgestone (Huizhou) Tire Co. Ltd. Bridgestone's other China plants are in Shenyang, Wuxi and Tianjin.
