DuPont Automotive Systems, the automotive coatings unit of DuPont Automotive, said last week that it will reduce its 540-member Troy, Mich., work force by 50 people effective July 1.
The reduction will be done through redeployments, normal attrition and severance programs.
Affected positions include coatings laboratory technicians, sales and marketing employees and technical field and support personnel.
Other DuPont automotive businesses at the Troy site plastics, elastomers and air-conditioning refrigerants are not affected.
Stephen Cox, a DuPont Automotive Systems vice president, says the reduction is the result of lower-than-expected vehicle production and rising raw materials costs.
