Volkswagen and its brands are active in almost all racing series, but VW's motorsports coordinator rules out Formula One. Nor will Bentley and Bugatti go racing any time soon.
F1 is "definitely not an issue" for VW, Arno Homburg, VW motorsports coordinator, told an in-house employee magazine.
VW, Audi, Seat and Skoda are active in almost all racing series except F1.
"Motorsports is profitable for a brand if success heightens the brand value in the long run," Homburg said. He cited Seat as an example of how motorsports can help a brand gain a more emotional and sporty image.
But Homburg added that despite Bugatti's and Bentley's famous racing heritages, VW has no plans to put them back on the track.
