A truck stolen from the parking lot of a gas station on the Turin tangenziale ring road is normally not big news.
But the truck stolen on April 7 had a special content: the stamping dies for the doors of the next-generation Fiat Punto.
Fiat Auto fretted for more than a day until police found the truck on a country road, not far from the gas station where the truck was stolen.
The thieves might have been happy to know the load they had stolen was worth about E1 million. But unfortunately for them, car dies are not easy to resell.
The truck finally safely arrived at Fiat's Melfi assembly plant in central Italy on April 9. Fiat will unveil its third-generation Punto at the IAA in Frankfurt in September -- on time.
