As Major League Baseball begins its new season this week the sport has a new official vehicle - Chevrolet.
A three-year sponsorship agreement between General Motors and Major League Baseball Properties gives Chevrolet a variety of exclusive automotive advertising rights during key events.
Those events include the All-Star Game in July, divisional and league playoffs, and the World Series.
Chevrolet was an official sponsor of Major League Baseball from 1985 through 1996.
The partnership with Major League Baseball will allow Chevrolet to market its vehicles to a wide audience, says Steve Tihanyi, GM's general director of marketing alliances and regional operations.
Chevrolet is launching 10 vehicles in 20 months.
Under the agreement, Chevrolet will sponsor the most valuable player awards for the All-Star Game and World Series.
The MVP of both events will win the Chevrolet vehicle of his choice.
Chevrolet also will sponsor this year's All-Star Game selection show, which is scheduled to air July 3 on ESPN.
