FRANKFURT -- Sales of Volkswagen brand cars rose slightly in Germany during the first quarter of 2005, a top VW sales executive said on Friday.
"Sales of VW brand cars in Germany were slightly higher in the first quarter this year compared to a year earlier," VW brand management board member Georg Flandorfer said during the Leipzig car show.
New registrations of VW brand cars were flat in the fourth quarter of 2004 at 140,067 vehicles, according to statistics from the German motor vehicles department KBA.
Flandorfer added that new car registrations for the entire German market fell some 10 percent in March.
Separately, Germany's VDIK association of auto importers said first-quarter new car registrations fell 3.3 percent.
