DETROIT -- General Motors and Ford Motor Co. will report lower sales for March, according to one analyst.
Christopher Ceraso of Credit Suisse First Boston foresees General Motors sales falling 3 percent to 5 percent from the year-ago month.
But GM Vice Chairman Robert Lutz was quoted by Reuters last week as saying, "We're going to be just about even" for the month.
Ceraso also sees Ford Motor Co. sales declining 5 percent to 7 percent vs. March 2004 and Chrysler group sales rising 2 percent to 4 percent. He says sales of import brands will run 3 percent to 5 percent ahead of March 2004 levels.
Automakers will report March sales on Friday, April 1.
