Smart has introduced a low price version of its ForFour model in Germany to boost sales.
The limited edition ForFour Pure will sell for E10,990 until August. That is E2,000 less than the cheapest ForFour available.
The ForFour also will get a new top-of-the-line model, a 177hp Brabus version capable of going 221kph, making it the fastest Smart on the road. It will cost E24,900.
The two variants could help Smart reach its target of selling 80,000 ForFours this year. In January, Smart sold 6,100 ForFours, which projects to about 73,300 units for the full year.
When the ForFour was introduced last April, then-Smart President Andreas Renschler, who is now head of Daimler-Chrysler’s commercial vehicles division, said that the target was to sell 80,000 ForFours in its first full year.
