I read with great interest "AWD is the next big thing" (Feb.14). It is a mystery how you could print an article about all-wheel drive and not mention the manufacturer that makes the best-selling awd car in America.
Subaru introduced four-wheel-drive cars more than 30 years ago and has remained the industry leader in awd technology ever since.
The story mentions "the new bogey" of 250 hp. Subaru has two iterations, a 250-hp turbocharged boxer four-cylinder and a 250-hp boxer six-cylinder on dealer lots now, both with awd standard.
It is gratifying that Subaru's competitors are finally beginning to offer the comfort, safety and security of awd in their vehicles. But Subaru owners have enjoyed those attributes for years.
Your article reminds me of the tag line of an old (circa 1980s) Subaru commercial: Did our competitors discover the weather or did they discover us?
