FRANKFURT -- General Motors has signed a letter of intent to make Dutch group Kroymans Corp the exclusive distributor of Hummer vehicles in Europe starting late next year, the world's biggest carmaker said on Monday.
Kroymans is already the European distributor of GM's Cadillac and Corvette brand vehicles. Under the new accord, it will also have exclusive rights to import and distribute Hummer sport-utility vehicles in 27 European countries.
GM showed its new mid-sized Hummer H3 model at this month's Geneva car show. The scaled-down version goes on sale in Europe in the second half of this year and aims to boost Hummer's international presence, in part by offering a diesel engine.
Some 1,600 Hummer H2 models were sold outside of North America in 2004, GM said.
