Gagnon will oversee distribution of Chery Automobile Co.'s vehicles in North America. The company hopes to sign 250 dealers to sell the Chinese-built vehicles.
Gagnon also will establish Visionary Vehicles distribution headquarters in Southern California.
Bricklin is asking dealers to spend a hefty $15 million to build stores, complete with a drive-in theater, test track, child care center and car wash. He believes these attractions will entice people to drive 30 minutes or more to buy Chinese cars in stores outside of suburbia.
Gagnon resigned under pressure from Mitsubishi in September 2003, after the company suffered huge losses and plunging sales.
