Von Kuenheim wants 22% sales boost in Spain.
He joins the company’s Spanish sales subsidiary after six years as president and CEO of BMW Group Canada.
A key goal for von Kuenheim in 2005 is to boost BMW’s sales in Spain 22 percent to 45,000 units.
Von Kuenheim will benefit from having the new 3 series and a face-lifted version of the 7 series available starting this spring, plus a full year of sales of the new 1 series.
In 2004, BMW was No. 2 to Audi in Spain among premium brands. Audi sold 41,156 units last year in Europe’s fifth biggest market. BMW sold 36,925 units and Mercedes was No. 3 with 35,242 sales.
Von Kuenheim, 46, is the son of former BMW CEO and European Automotive Hall of Fame member Eberhard von Kuenheim.
