DETROIT -- Porsche has tapped the sales director for the automaker's Australian subsidiary to fill the No. 2 slot at Porsche Cars North America.
Michael Bartsch, 46, has already started work as chief operating officer at Porsche Cars North America's headquarters in Atlanta. He will be in charge of sales operations, vehicle sales and the Porsche Academy driving school.
He replaces Richard Ford, 58, who retired as COO on Dec. 31.
A native of Australia, Bartsch joined Porsche in 1994 as director of the Porsche Centre in Melbourne. Previously, he had worked as a marketing manager for Hyundai Automotive Distributor in Australia. He is married with four children.
