DETROIT -- Anne Belec will replace Vic Doolan as head of Volvo Cars of North America. Doolan will retire at the end of March. Belec, now vice president of sales operations at Volvo Car Corp. in Sweden, will come to North America in January and take over as CEO after Doolan's departure.
"It's been a great run, and I'll miss it," Doolan, 63, told Advertising Age, a sister publication to Automotive News.
Former BMW executive Doolan is leaving on a high note. During his leadership, Volvo became the most profitable unit of Ford Motor Co.'s Premier Automotive Group. The South African native joined PAG in 1999. Belec, 42, is a Canadian who joined Ford Motor in her home country in 1985.
