U.S. sales of Class 8 trucks, the largest portion of the heavy-truck segment, continued their winning streak in October.
Sales increased 38.7 percent to 19,523 units. That compares with 14,072 units in the year-ago month.
Through October, Class 8 sales are up 42.6 percent to 163,582 units, compared with 114,708 units in the year-ago period.
Total sales of medium and heavy-duty trucks, Classes 4 through 8, rose 23.8 percent in October to 38,813 from 31,361 units in the year-ago month.
From January to October, sales for the segment leapt 31.0 percent to 355,805 units from 271,643 in the year-ago period.
Sales of all trucks in the United States saw a 3.3 percent rise in October to 774,245 trucks from 749,512 in October 2003. For the first 10 months of the year, sales increased 5.6 percent to 8,042,196 units.
