Regarding your Nov. 8 article on the Lincoln brand ("Gone with the wind/Its glory days past, lackluster Lincoln now tries for near-luxury"): While we respect Automotive News and your right to comment, we come to a different conclusion regarding Lincoln's position in the industry.
The North American vehicle market remains very competitive, with product offerings from the entire industry continuing to improve.
That said, historically, Lincoln is a premier American luxury automobile, and we do have the product plans and commitment throughout Ford Motor Co. to sustain that position.
In addition, our Lincoln-Mercury dealers continue to be some of the most effective in the industry, with industry-leading customer-satisfaction scores.
In all, we are confident that Lincoln is well-positioned for success.
