NEW YORK -- Sirius Satellite Radio Inc. on Wednesday said that its radio will be offered as a factory-installed option in certain 2005 models of DaimlerChrysler's Mercedes-Benz cars.
Sirius priced the device at $699, including 14 months of the service, which provides more than 100 channels of music, news and talk programs, many of them commercial free. Customers typically pay about $13 a month for the nationwide service.
Sirius and DaimlerChrysler in April signed a deal to factory-install Sirius radios in 550,000 DaimlerChrysler cars by June 2006.
The installation of satellite radio in new cars is seen as an important growth area for both Sirius and its bigger rival XM Satellite Radio Holdings Inc.
