Amedeo Felisa, general manager of Ferrari GT, the road-car division, was talking about the new F430 with its 490hp V-8 engine. In the process, he also defined sister division Maserati.
"The F430 is the entry level," he said. "If you are a fan of Ferrari you will remember that in the 1970s the 208 was just 2.0 liters, then we moved to 2.3 and steadily upward. Now, eight cylinders is our starting point. We always look at how the demand from our customers evolves -- higher and higher performance each time.
"Today's small Ferrari is a Maserati."
