TOKYO -- Nissan Motor Co. will boost production of VQ engines by about 22 percent in Japan with an additional plant. The VQ is a V-6 used in the Nissan 350Z, Nissan Murano and other models.
The ¥10 billion investment, which is about $93.8 million at current exchange rates, is for a plant in Fukushima. The plant is scheduled to open in summer 2006.
The project will boost engine production to 560,00 annually, from 460,000 now.
