DETROIT -- Visteon Corp. will not sell its Chicago plant to Plastech Engineered Products Inc.
The companies had agreed on the sale Aug. 13. The deal was expected to close Sept. 30, but Visteon says the deal fell through. Terms were not disclosed.
"As we got into the agreement, there were some things that they felt they needed that we felt we were better off not going forward with the transaction," said Visteon CEO Michael Johnston.
The new plant handles final assembly and sequencing of front-end modules, cockpit systems, fuel storage systems and climate systems for the Ford Freestyle, Ford Five Hundred and Mercury Montego.
Plastech would not return calls seeking comment.
