STUTTGART -- DaimlerChrysler board member Rüdiger Grube will take charge of the automaker's activities in China.
D/C plans to tap more strongly into China's growth potential for passenger and commercial vehicles, said a company spokesman.
Grube will continue his current function as D/C board member responsible for corporate development. DaimlerChrysler China CEO Roman Fischer will report to Grube.
D/C's Mercedes-Benz division aims to sell up to 50,000 cars in China in the medium term.
M-B sold 5,500 cars in China between January and June this year.
D/C's joint venture with Beijing Jeep Corp. expects to double its sales this year to 40,000 vehicles.
