TURIN -- Fiat Auto named Bob Rice, 54, its manager for China.
Rice reports to Gianni Coda, president of the Fiat-Lancia Business Unit.
Rice replaced Flavio Ciappa, who assumes other responsibilities with Fiat Auto in Italy.
Rice has spent more than 20 years in Asia, working in the metal and automotive industries. From 1993 to 2003, he worked for General Motors in China and Japan.
He will oversee Nanjing Fiat, a 50-50 joint venture between Fiat Auto and Yuejin Motor Group, which last year built 37,418 units of the Palio car.
