In the Aug. 16 issue, Automotive News ran a story about a presentation by Finbarr O'Neill, CEO of Mitsubishi Motors North America, to the Society of Automotive Analysts in Detroit.
A quote in the story, which was pulled out and highlighted, inaccurately has O'Neill stating that any "dealer" not needed for selling cars was open to being cut.
The quote should have read any "dollar" not needed, as optimizing our business structure right now is a key part of turnaround efforts.
As O'Neill told the analysts, Mitsubishi Motors North America has no plans to downsize our dealer network, except through natural attrition. Our focus right now is to work closely with our existing network to improve sales and profitability. Our dealer body is and continues to be our No. 1 customer.
