FRANKFURT -- Sports goods retailer Puma AG will enter into a sponsorship and licensing deal with sportscar maker Ferrari, a unit of Fiat, a German newspaper said on Friday.
In an advance copy of its Saturday edition, the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung cited Italian business sources saying that Puma would become a sponsor of Ferrari's Formula One team.
In the future, Puma will also make red-coloured shoes and clothing similar to those worn by Ferrari drivers Michael Schumacher and Rubens Barrichello, the paper said.
A spokesman for Puma declined to comment when reached by Reuters. "We do not comment on speculation," he said.
Puma supplies sportswear to six other Formula One teams.
