NEW YORK - Mercury says that it will call its new 2006 mid-sized car the Milan. The Milan will go into production during the third quarter of 2005 at Ford's Hermosillo, Mexico, assembly plant.
It is based on Ford Motor Co.'s Mazda6-derived CD3 platform. That platform also will support other vehicles, including the 2006 Ford Fusion and Lincoln Zephyr. The Milan and Mercury Montego, which goes on sale in September, replace the Sable in Mercury's lineup.
