DETROIT - Volkswagen of America Inc., in a bid to boost poor Phaeton sales, will advertise a $699 a month, three-year lease for its luxury flagship sedan during NBC's Olympics broadcast.
The lease offer, which requires $5,500 at signing, is for an "abundantly equipped" Phaeton with a V-8 engine.
VW also is offering prospective customers a 48-hour Phaeton test drive.
VW sold 939 Phaetons in the United States through the first seven months of this year.
A 2005 Phaeton starts at $66,515. The price includes a $615 destination charge and a gas guzzler tax of $1,300.
