Toyota Motor Corp. wants Americans to realize how much investment the automaker has made in the United States, using a new ad campaign that is running nationally.
Toyota fears that the public and the nation's policymakers don't realize how many assembly plants, engine factories and parts operations it has here. The company began placing ads in newspapers including The Wall Street Journal in late July to drive home the point.
"It's an engine for economic growth," reads one full-page ad. The ad shows an American Toyota worker among a sea of engines at one of Toyota's three U.S. engine plants.
Another ad shows the land in San Antonio, where Toyota is building an $800 million pickup assembly plant. "We're not just breaking new ground," that ad reads.
The ads will run in 40 national publications in the next several months. And there will be some TV spots.
