LOS ANGELES -- Electronic Arts Inc., the world's largest video game publisher, on Thursday said it had signed a sponsorship deal with automotive brand Dodge to offer for free a premium set of online services for sports games.
EA said the EA Sports Premium Pass will require a credit card to register but will offer players of its upcoming "Madden NFL 2005" football game free access to features like a customized sports ticker, a calendar for organizing tournaments, message boards, game hints, and early registration for a nationwide "Madden" tournament.
Other features planned for later in the season include custom leagues and special tournaments.
Dodge is a brand of DaimlerChrysler. The Premium Pass will be available for "Madden" on the PlayStation 2 and Xbox game consoles.
