SAN FRANCISCO -- Jaguar Cars will sell the wagon version of its X-Type in the United States in the 2005 model year.
The X-Type wagon will go on sale in November. It will be the first Jaguar wagon to be sold in America. The only trim level will be offered with a 3.0-liter V-6 engine, five-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive.
Purists have cringed at the idea of a Jaguar wagon. But Jaguar's dealer council asked the automaker to bring the vehicle across the pond, said C.J. O'Donnell, executive vice president of Jaguar Cars North America.
Pricing won't be announced until closer to launch, but O'Donnell said a ballpark figure would be in the $35,000 range. No volume estimates were given.
