With vacation season in full swing, U.S. shipments of motor homes are rising.
Shipments jumped 19.6 percent in June to 6,700 units, a 1,100-unit increase over the year-ago month.
For the first six months, shipments were up 27.2 percent to 38,400 units vs. the comparable period in 2003.
June shipments of van campers rose 50.0 percent to 300 units compared with June 2003.
Other June notables:
Shipments to RV retailers, excluding conversions, also increased in June to 35,100 units. That was up 17.8 percent from the previous June.
For the first six months, the 196,200 shipments were 20.0 percent ahead of the first half of 2003.
On the down side, U.S. shipments of conversion vehicles dropped in June by 1,500 units, a 30.6 percent decline from June 2003.
At the year's halfway point, conversion vehicle shipments fell to 23,100 units, a 25.5 decline vs. January-June 2003.
