Why would you ever take a name from a monster car like the Dodge Charger and not make it a monster car? I understand the PT Cruiser. Not many people who remember the 1930s care about driving. That is why that car is sort of successful.
Almost all the people who will drive a Charger remember the Charger of old. Maybe their dad had one and will want to relive the 1960s.
Get a grip.
You can put the 360-cubic-inch engine in a two-door with rear-wheel drive and call it a Charger. It will sell!
Forget about traction control, satellite navigation, dual climate control, cruise control and most of all radio controls on the steering wheel. You can even put in roll-up windows, rubber mats or no mats. Forget heated seats. If the car is made right, you will be hot enough driving it.
Maybe some of those car guys should go to a car event and see what real car guys are doing. Get out of the boardroom. Japanese cars are winning the race.
I would like to see a base two-door with a 360 R/T engine, roll-down windows, rear-wheel drive, no traction control (that is what the gas is for), manual rear-view mirrors, normal-sized wheels (maybe 16 inch), no bells and whistles.
Most of all, two options: a stick shift and air conditioning. Put that on the road, and it will sell, sell, sell.
