DETROIT -- Dodge Dakota pickups are both higher priced and lower priced for 2005. They are better equipped than the 2004 models, and the Dakota again offers the only V-8 engine in its market segment.
The Dakota ST Club Cab V-8 with two-wheel drive is $19,995, including the $645 destination charge. It has a 4.7-liter, 230-hp engine.
Dodge changed some model designations for 2005, making price comparisons difficult. Regular-cab models are not listed for 2005, and the lowest priced Club Cabs and Quad Cabs are $921 to $1,305 less than last year.
Midrange SLT Club Cabs and Quad Cabs are up $458 to $1,244, and the Laramie series is new at the top of the line.
New standard equipment for 2005 includes 16-inch aluminum wheels; fog lamps; tilt steering; cruise control; and power windows, locks and mirrors on various models. Most of those items were part of option packages for 2004 and were not priced separately.
Dakota prices for 2005 range from $19,210 to $29,324. The 2004 range was $17,845 to $25,480. All prices include destination.
