Regarding "Big 3 ask for help on health care," (May 31): Such arrogance! The Big 3 are demanding tax subsidies to pay for their years of incompetent and expeditious contract negotiations. They sat across that negotiating table every time and surrendered to exponentially expanding benefit costs.
The Big 3 have set the bar of perceived work force entitlements for the entire country at the luxury level for years.
The only reasons "the U.S. companies are at a competitive disadvantage to import-brand automakers" are the gold-plated contracts and their appalling internal productivity; i.e., years and years of management incompetence.
U.S. taxpayers cannot foot the bill for utter shortsightedness and mismanagement. It's decades overdue, but the Big 3 must execute the same strategic initiatives as any other company for long-term viability: Go get it back! The Big 3 must either fix it or fail.
